Physio: Getting Started & What to Expect
Clear Steps. Expert Support. Lasting Results.
Your Rehab Journey at LFR
We understand that starting physiotherapy can feel overwhelming, especially if you've been in pain for a while or feel unsure about what’s next.
At LFR, we make your experience smooth, supportive, and structured from day one.
Step 1: Book Your Initial Assessment
You self-refer to our services, meaning you do not need a GP or doctor referral. Book online or contact our admin team, or complete our Physio enquiry form.
If you have been advised to see us by a healthcare or fitness professional, we are happy to communicate with them about your care, with your consent.
If you're unsure which service you need, we’ll guide you to the best-fit appointment.
After you have made your booking, you’ll receive a confirmation email, directions to the clinic, and a pre-assessment form to complete online. Please take your time to complete the form. The more information your therapist has, the more value we can offer from your initial assessment.
We aim to offer Initial Assessments within 48 hours of receiving an enquiry.
Step 2: Initial Assessment (60 Minutes)
Your first session is all about understanding the root cause of your symptoms and creating a clear plan forward.
What it includes:
In-depth case history and movement screening.
Functional and strength testing.
A clinical diagnosis and explanation of what’s going on.
Immediate hands-on treatment and pain relief (where appropriate).
A tailored rehab plan and roadmap for your recovery.
You’ll leave feeling heard, reassured, and with a plan in place, not just short-term relief.
Step 3: Follow-Up Sessions
Your follow-up appointments combine treatment and progressive rehab to move you step by step toward your goals.
You’ll receive:
Hands-on manual therapy.
Movement-based rehab and strengthening.
Education on how to manage and prevent flare-ups.
Regular reassessments to track your progress.
Frequency: Typically weekly or fortnightly, depending on your condition and stage of rehab
Follow-up sessions are available in 30, 45 or 60-minute slots.
Your therapist will advise you based on clinical need.
The vast majority of our clients attend 30-minute follow-up appointments.
The number of sessions your therapist recommends is based upon individual clinical need & your agreed goals.
Step 4: Completion & Discharge Planning
Once you’ve reached the point where you are no longer experiencing symptoms, have achieved your agreed goals and are back to doing the things you need and want to do, we’ll guide you through a structured discharge process.
You’ll receive:
A final review and testing to confirm resilience and readiness.
Maintenance strategy to stay pain-free and active.
Advice on continuing to build resilience and staying symptom-free.
Step 5: Transition to Pilates or Fitness
Physio isn’t the end, it’s the foundation for ongoing strength and confidence.
At LFR, many of our clients move seamlessly into Pilates or Fitness service sessions after discharge to stay strong and prevent recurrence.
Why transition?
Bridge the gap from rehab to performance
Continue building strength, flexibility, and control
Train in a safe environment with instructors who understand your injury history
Build long-term resilience and confidence in your body
Options include:
1-to-1 Pilates Sessions
Pilates Gym
Small group Reformer or Mat Pilates classes
Small group Yoga classes
1-to-1 Personal Training sessions
Small group strength & conditioning classes
Your Physio will advise on the best option before you are discharged & we can arrange a seamless transition to your chosen service.
